Molly R. Kiser

PRACTICE OVERVIEW

Molly R. Kiser is licensed to practice law in Virginia and North Carolina.  Her principal areas of practice include real property and creditor’s rights/default servicing.  She especially enjoys clearing title issues, drafting purchase agreements and lease agreements, helping clients navigate exit strategies related to reverse mortgages, domesticating foreign judgments in Virginia and North Carolina, and representing local investors and hard money lenders in foreclosure proceedings.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

Molly came to Sykes, Bourdon, Ahern & Levy in 2018 to manage the firm’s default servicing department and assist with residential real estate transactions. While with the firm, her work representing investors in countless foreclosure proceedings has uniquely equipped her with the knowledge and experience necessary for effectively and efficiently facilitating buyer and seller closings and clearing title issues of varying types and levels of complexity.  Whether it be negotiating purchase agreements, obtaining proof of satisfaction of unreleased liens, or resolving property line disputes, she truly enjoys helping her clients overcome the obstacles that would otherwise keep them from the closing table.  Additionally, she takes great pride in helping local investors and hard money lenders protect their investments by facilitating foreclosures proceedings, as well as foreclosure alternatives, against breaching borrowers.

While she has spent the majority of her professional career here at SBAL, Molly began her legal career as a law clerk with another local real estate firm where she first obtained her CRESPA certification as a Virginia registered real estate settlement agent and gained experience in real estate law by facilitating seller-side residential closings, drafting various types of deeds, identifying and clearing title issues, and reviewing and interpreting purchase agreements and related documents.  While pursuing her legal education, she earned a position as a legal intern for the Newport News Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office in Newport News, Virginia where she honed her trial and legal writing skills. Prior to that, she served as a judicial intern for the Portsmouth General District Court in Portsmouth, Virginia.

She earned her Juris Doctor from Regent University School of Law in Virginia Beach, Virginia where she received the Ronald L. Fick Book Award for excellence in Trial Practice. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts in English from Regent University College of Arts & Sciences during which time she served as President of the Regent Undergraduate Council.

OUTSIDE OF THE OFFICE

Molly grew up in the Palm Springs area of Southern California but chose to make Virginia her home after she moved there for college and fell in love with its history, traditions, landscapes, and people. One such person was her husband, Jeff, an estate planning attorney she met during their first days of law school. They live in Smithfield, Virginia and spend most of their time enjoying family and friends, taking scenic drives, eating delicious food, listening to music, reading, and watching Dodger baseball.
