PRACTICE OVERVIEW
Mr. Kerner’s principal areas of practice are real estate law, residential and commercial real estate transactions and settlements, and litigation.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Born in the Bronx, Mr. Kerner was raised in Norfolk and attended Norfolk Academy.
Mr. Kerner graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a Bachelor of Arts in History. For law school, Mr. Kerner attended Tulane Law School in New Orleans, Louisiana. At Tulane, Mr. Kerner focused on Maritime Law and Labor Law, externing at the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) field office in New Orleans. In addition to receiving his Juris Doctor, he also received a Certificate in Maritime Law.
After being admitted to the Virginia State Bar, Mr. Kerner worked for the Law Firm of Mason, Mason, Walker, & Hedrick in Newport News, handling both insurance defense and Longshoremen and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act work. In 2022, he went to work at Chaplin & Gonet in Richmond, where he handled insurance subrogation litigation and collections. While there, he specialized in out-of-state bank garnishments and condominium subrogation. While there, he practiced throughout the commonwealth, from Loudoun County in the north to Danville in the south, Accomack County in the east, Alleghany County in the west, and everywhere in between.
He joined the law firm in 2025 to help expand operations in the greater Richmond area.
